Q + A

Will the Wedding Mass be Live-streamed?

YES! There will hopefully be two options, if everything works as planned! You can open two browsers and switch back and forth between the two, if you'd like.

The ceremony begins at 1:45PM Pacific.

OPTION #1: Via the Mission's live feed on Facebook. Their stationary camera has a VERY tight view of the sanctuary area only. You'll see the priests, lectors, and the bride and groom at times, including our vows. The sound should be good. The LIVE STREAM link may be found on the Mission website or by directly going to their Facebook page. Here is the direct link to their Facebook page: (copy and paste into your browser. Will likely only work if you have a Facebook account):

OPTION #2: Michael John Poirier's YouTube Channel! Michael is a gifted singer/song-writer, and has been a friend of the Bride's for decades. Michael will be doing some of the music during the Wedding Mass, including a prayerful 15 minute prelude starting at 1:45pm. He will start the livestream just before the prelude begins. The plan is to be able to also include the procession and other parts of the Mass not visible from the Mission's live feed.

In case that doesn't work, you may also go to his website and find the link there: https://leavealighton.org/

is there a gift registry?

Sort of! You may have seen a reference in passing to Jen's bridal shower registries (Macy's and Amazon). They were never supposed to be connected to this site, but somehow, through the magic of technology, they became linked. Gone now, as far as we can tell! There are still a few items the Bride and Groom have their eye on, however, we'd also like to suggest to anyone considering a gift to take a peek at the "WISH LIST" tab on this site. Thank you!!

What is the San Buenaventura Mission?

The 9th of 21 historic Spanish missions founded in California by Saint Junipero Serra, the San Buenaventura Mission was established on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1782 (the Bride's birthday!) in honor of Saint Bonaventure, a 13th century Franciscan, Cardinal, Doctor of the Church, and renowned philosopher. To learn more, please visit: https://www.sanbuenaventuramission.org/ Address: 211 E Main St Ventura, CA 93001

Will there be time to see the Mission?

Yes! If you’d like, arrive early to tour the mission grounds, museum, and gift shop! (Please plan to be seated in church by 1:45pm.) Please double-check the mission website for hours. Guests will also have about an hour after the ceremony to look around the mission, wander around Main St. in Ventura, or dip your toes in the Pacific. In order to arrive at the reception venue in Westlake on time, we recommend leaving Ventura by 4pm. This should allow for possible traffic, and time to park at The Yacht Club. Cocktails on the deck start at 5pm! (Arrive as early as 4:45pm). Wedding party plans to arrive at about 5:15pm!

PARKING at the Mission

First, downtown Ventura is a very popular place on the weekends and parking may take some time. Please leave ample time to park and be seated in the church by 1:45pm. Also, the front of the Mission is on Main Street, but it is not possible to pull up in front or enter through the main church doors, and part of Main St. is foot traffic only. FRONT LOTS: Entrance to the Mission from Main Street is through the Gift Shop, which has a number of stairs. If you choose this entrance, there are two free parking lots nearby: One belongs to the Mission, the other is a public lot about a block away. Closest cross street is S. Ventura Ave. BACK LOT: The Mission has a sizeable back parking lot, near the parish school, and this entrance does not require stairs. GPS will likely direct you there, but for reference, it is off of N. Palm St. You’ll cross over Main St, and turn left. Look for signs. We've created a parking map, which you can hopefully access here (copy and paste into browser): https://1drv.ms/i/s!AhaQDkPzeaYhgYIbHO9qOyGSTtPRgw?e=yVIDuA

Where is the reception?

At the Westlake Yacht Club. 32119 W. Lindero Canyon Road Westlake Village, CA 91361 Cocktails begin at 5pm! (please plan to arrive a few minutes early.) The wedding party hopes to arrive around 5:15pm to join you! https://westlakeyc.org/

PARKING at the Westlake Yacht Club

There is a huge parking lot shared by the Yacht Club and other lake-side restaurants. It's a busy place, but park in any open spot. The Yacht Club is the blue building on the far left, as you enter the parking lot of The Landing.

Will there be celebtations in Virginia and New York?

Yes! We plan to travel sometime in the near future as newlyweds to our homes in Virginia and New York to celebrate with family and friends there. If you can't make it to California (or even if you can), we hope to see you then! We'll know more after the wedding and keep you posted!
